The need to expand the education sector among the Nuer Woredas in Gambela is very crucial because there is a high level of illiteracy rate which is well documented.
For instance, according to the government of Ethiopia report, the ratio of school enrolment is 73% for female students. 83.01 % for male students. This needs serious attention. There are currently 3, 428 professional teachers (31 with masters’ degrees, 727 with degrees, 2, 2252 with a diploma, and 419 with certificates).
However, the quality of education is very low. This comes as a result of the poor educational management system, planning, and strategies formulations. Inadequate knowledge to improve and strengthen the quality of education, planning and designing equitable policies and reform implementation.
There are gaps in the area of rural literacy and child development education, early child marriages.
